Lain Chappell

President

A Colorado resident from childhood, Lain Chappell graduated from Wasson High School and then went on to attend and graduate from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.  He founded Solid Rock Construction in 1995, focusing on finishing basements, but has since expanded with Solid Rock Custom Homes in 2004 and is now experienced in all facets of new home construction and remodeling, as well as commercial building.  Through the National Association of Home Builders, Lain has earned certifications as a graduate builder, graduate remodeler, and aging-in-place specialist, as well as being a 100% Energy Star certified builder and holding a Built Green Colorado certification.  He is an active member of the Colorado Springs Home Builders Association (CSHBA) and the CSHBA Remodelers Council, and has been the recipient of many local awards, including the Parade of Homes People’s Choice Award in 2009 and multiple MAME awards.

Lain meets personally with every potential client to present the Solid Rock work ethic and introduce the rest of the team. He also demonstrates to clients our exclusive online Build Tools:  an interactive online construction management system that allows homeowners to see how Solid Rock is managing all aspects of the building process, including schedule and budget as well as regular photos. Lain works closely with production manager Nate Chappell throughout each project to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.  After project completion, Lain engages in periodic walk-throughs during the warranty time  (one year for custom homes, basement finishes and other remodels) in order to address and coordinate any needed warranty work.  This close working relationship between Lain and homeowners fosters a life-long relationship that guarantees Solid Rock is the first place our clients go for any future building needs.

When he’s not custom building someone’s dream home, finishing a basement, remodeling a house, or working on a commercial project, Lain enjoys camping and jet skiing with his family, riding his motorcycle, admiring vintage cars, and playing Sudoku.

Barbara Chappell

Vice President

Like her husband Lain, Barbara Chappell is also a Colorado native, having graduated from Wasson High School and attended UCCS for a short time.  As vice president of Solid Rock Custom Homes and Solid Rock Construction, Barbara assists with the marketing and social media efforts, nurtures client relationships throughout the building process, and after completion to ensure life-long relationships. She also performs daily office management tasks and engages in networking and marketing opportunities.  Barbara has been working with Solid Rock Custom Homes since 2004, and with Solid Rock Construction since 1995.

When she finds a bit of free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, gardening, and stained glass.

Nate Chappell

Production Manager

Nate oversees the completion of basement projects, while continuing his education in construction and learning the ins and outs of the family business.

Nate works directly with the contracted professionals who complete various aspects of the construction process, fostering positive relationships with both clients and contractors as well as ensuring quality work at every step along the way. Nate's friendly and professional demeanor, as well as his construction experience and attention to detail, significantly contribute to Solid Rock’s reputation as a builder of quality with a high standard of integrity.

When he’s not driving his truck between job sites, Nate prefers to spend time outdoors, dirt biking, camping, fishing and hunting.
